While seniors tend to be experts in a lot of areas thanks to decades of experience, one area that can present new challenges is technology. The exponential growth of technology over the past few decades creates both opportunities and threats that seniors may not be as well versed in. This, of course, is of no fault of our seasoned citizens as most of them grew up in a time when digital resources like social media, online dating, and more didn’t exist.
But, we believe at HFCDS that just because someone is older doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get to enjoy the benefits that come with digital and technological advances. In order to make this happen, it’s important that we share safety resources, information, and best practices with senior citizens in a way that they can understand and easily employ. Unfortunately, senior citizens tend to be one of the prime targets of online scams (like romance scams), due to the knowledge that their inexperience with digital websites and mobile apps can make them more vulnerable.
